Fraction fun!

Using the fractions wall above:
1) How many different ways can you find of writing 12?
2) From the picture, what equivalent fractions for 13 can you find?
3) How else could you write 34?
 4) What other fractions do you know that are the same as 12?
 5) Find some other fractions which are equivalent to 34.
 6) Can you find any "rules" for working out equivalent fractions?

The urge...

Predict what George might do next.

Clock confusion!

Sam and Julie are friends. Both of them have rather odd clocks at home.
In Sam's bedroom there is an old alarm clock which his Dad had thrown out because it had lost its minute hand. Although it has only its small hand, Sam can still tell the time using it. He can tell the hour, such as midday. He can tell when it is time to get up, time to go to school and time to turn his light out at night.

1. Which clock is showing it is midday? How do you know?
2. At what time does Sam get up? Which clock is this?
3. At what time does Sam go to school? Which clock is this?
4. At what time is Sam supposed to turn out his light? Which clock is this?

Roald Dahl

If you could have met Roald Dahl, what would you have asked him?

Worms and slugs and beetley bugs...

In Chapter 1 of George's Marvellous Medicine, Granny tries to persuade George that it's a good idea to eat all kinds of creatures...

If you could try a food that you'd never tasted before, what would you try and why?

We had a go at role playing a conversation between Granny and George. It was hard to keep a straight face!

Lee in full flow! 'I never joke'...'beetles are perhaps best of all. They go crunch!'

We will be learning all about George's Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl as well as designing, writing and making our very own potions...keep your eyes peeled for some exciting blog posts and pictures! If you've got any ideas of potion ingredients...feel free to blog your ideas!

This term, we will be studying...

Now, look carefully at the image and the title. Use these to make predictions about the story...

Think about:
- Who might the main character be? What is he/she like?
- Where is the story set? How do you know?
- When did this story happen?
- What adventures might happen in the story?
